While prayer works very well for people who love words, some of us are more comfortable with feelings. This technique uses clairsentience (psychic feeling), so practising it will strengthen your empathic ability, which is a particularly important skill to develop and master if you are a healer, helper or counsellor. You can learn more about psychic abilities on my primary website, on the ‘Psychic Perception’ page. Some of us are natural empaths and we can at times take this ability a little too far, forgetting to maintain healthy personal boundaries. For insight into this pattern, read my blog Excessive Empathy, on my main website.
If you haven’t already selected a flower spirit to work with, go to the Choosing a Flower Spirit Helper page for ideas on how to go about this. This page also includes a description of ‘Centring’, a psychic self-care technique that helps us find our calm peaceful place within, which is a really great exercise to do before connecting with Spirit. Afterwards, it helps to ground yourself back into a normal waking conscious state. Grounding is described at the bottom of this page.
To make a heart-to-heart connection with a flower spirit, imagine you are surrounded by light and with each inhalation, feel this light entering and filling your heart. What would it feel like if your entire chest was filled with light?
Gaze with love at the flower in front of you, and open your heart to this flower. What would it feel like if you could gather all your love for nature in your heart and send it to this flower? Feel your heart stirring and opening. Love flows from your heart to the flower, bathing the flower in your love.
Now imagine the flower responding by sending love back to you. With the love comes healing energy, flowing into your heart and filling it. From here the healing energy flows into the parts of your body and being that need it the most. Feel the energy flowing through you, and when the sensations subside, say thank you to the flower and ground yourself.
After working with a flower spirit, ground yourself.
After you have finished working with a flower, make sure you say thank you and take time to ground yourself. Grounding brings you out of an altered state of mind, back into normal waking consciousness. Rather than standing up suddenly and moving around quickly, sit or lie quietly for a while. Give your body plenty of time to adjust by wriggling your fingers and toes and having a good stretch. Look around you. Listen to the sounds around you. Think about what you did earlier in the day, or what you will be doing tomorrow. Take a few nice deep breaths and sit or stand up slowly.
